Can’t start the ATV

What happens when the vroom and the zoom is lost when you're trying to start your ATV? This is a pretty common problem for ATVs that are old and not well maintained. Even if you regularly perform maintenance on your ATV, there are many other reasons why you are facing problems starting up your ATV. For example, there could be a problem with the starter itself or it could be a problem concerning your batteries. Sometimes, dirty cables could cause this problem as well.

How do you know there's a problem with the ATV

If there are problems with the starter, it is normal for you to hear the engine TRYING VERY HARD to start up. There's a click and then there's the chugging sound coming from the ATV engine…and yet nothing happens. The funny thing is that sometimes the ATV might start up fine when you lodge it into the second gear…but the problem persists if you put it into the first gear.

Clean up the ATV cables and connections

The thing to do when you're facing problems starting up your ATV is to go under the hood and check the cables and connections. If the cables and connections are oily and dirty, this could be the reason why you're facing problems starting up.

Charging up the ATV battery

Sometimes, the problem could be because the battery is weak. Either charge the battery up or replace the ATV battery with a newer one. if you're not sure whether you should just charge it or replace it, take the ATV battery to a shop and get someone professional to take a look at the battery.

Jumpstarting the ATV

Some ATV owners successfully jumpstarts their ATVs when they're stuck with a car jumpstart cable. If all else fails, you can also push the ATV and then put it into gear. This will usually bring the ATV back to life.
